Taevion Knox, Beloved Oroville Resident, Tragically Loses Life in High-Speed Fairfield, CA Car Crash Near Travis Air Force Base

Taevion Knox, 30, of Oroville, California, tragically passed away in a fiery car crash early Tuesday morning near the entrance of Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield.

Knox was a passenger in a Mercedes driven by John Newton III, 28, of Sacramento, when the vehicle collided at high speeds following a pursuit initiated by Napa County sheriff’s deputies shortly after midnight.

Authorities report the car reached speeds up to 120 miles per hour before crashing at approximately 12:17 a.m., resulting in both Knox and Newton being pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash forced the temporary closure of the base’s main gate, reopening later in the day, while Fairfield police, the California Highway Patrol, and the Solano County Major Crimes Task Force continue to investigate the circumstances.

Friends and family have begun sharing their grief online, expressing the deep loss felt by the community. Social media posts convey heartfelt sorrow, with many highlighting Knox’s warm nature and cherished presence among loved ones.
